The Writing Center, Excel Center, and tutoring The faculty ▫Offering assistance ▫Being engaging and interesting to listen to The UWG 1101 class Living at home (less distractions) Living on campus (less distractions than off campus) Personal ▫Hard Work ▫Focused ▫Dedicated

Continued: Academic Advisors Athletic Coaches RA’s assistance with my classes and studies Good support from friends and family Getting involved with student organizations Working out at the campus center

What are the factors you feel that have hindered your success here at UWG? Not attending classes my first semester (I wasn’t ready for the freedom) …55% of participants said this was the number one hindrance to their academic success Dormitory life too distracting and conflicting w/ academic pursuit … 16.2 % of participants A few bad professors … 10% of participants

Continued: Personal life (challenges) interfered w/ academic efforts …15% : ▫Drinking too much ▫Not mature enough ▫Trying to balance family, work, and classes ▫Procrastination ▫The opposite sex

What are your future educational plans?

What are the main reasons for your actions described in the question above? UWG is close to home. UWG fits my budget. UWG accepted me, when other schools did not. UWG is a large school, but has that small town feel to it that I’m looking for. My friends are attending UWG. The excellent staff and facilities offered at UWG.

Reasons for transferring: UWG does not have my degree. I will be pursuing a degree from another school (Emory, UGA, Valdosta, GA Southern, etc). I have saved up enough money to afford somewhere else.
