Politics The country is run by a Government.

The Government Run the Country. The Government make the law. The Police make sure that the law is not broken When it is the Courts decide what the punishment should be.

There are 3 main Political Parties Labour Conservative Liberal Democrat

In Elections every adult can vote for the Political Party they like

The Head of the country is called the Prime Minister This is currently David Cameron He is head of the Conservative Party

The Government works in a very old building in London called Parliament

The Hardest Hit March People try to change the minds of the Government when they decide to do something they do not like. Disabled people want more funding and support. They marched to say that they want this

Labour Party Support the idea of Unions Believe that people should be taxed to pay for things like hospitals, schools and welfare benefits (which are free for everybody) Believe that things should be controlled by the government

Conservative Party Believe that Business is very important as this is where the money comes from They want people to pay less tax but make people pay for hospitals and schools ( those who can afford it) Think the government should not control things but business should instead

Liberal Democrat Party Tend to share some of the views of both the other parties. They think letting Business run things is good but it needs controlling by government and it should not control schools and hospitals.

One of the lesser parties is the British National Party This is a controversial group who believe that only White British people should be supported by the government. They believe people from abroad who have moved to live here and their children should be made to leave. They have been accused of being racist
