Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Plant Biology By: Roy Chan

What is Plant Biology? Studies:  Plants  Algae  Fungi plant biology deals with the responses of plant to environmental stresses, plant ecology, genetics, genomics, and evolution.

Three Research Facilities 1) Greenhouse Facilities 2) Arboretum 3) Ecological Reserve

Greenhouse Facility A10,000 square feet of greenhouse space facilitated under the School of Biological Sciences allows researcher to store plants in rooms to give them different temperatures to those needed colder atmosphere to survive.

Arboretum UCI 14-acre garden and research facility on the north camps features extensive collections of South African plants for faculty and graduate student to experiment

Ecological Reserve A 60 acres in size consists a number of endangered or threatened plant and animal species found on the preserve for teaching and research purposes only.

Field Sites The UC Natural Reserve System, The Organization of Tropical Studies, The San Joaquin Fresh Water Marsh, The Burns Pinon Ridge Reserve, The Irvine Ranch Land Reserve, The Rocky Mountain Biological Lab, The Mountain Research Station.

School Requirements Applicants must submit a completed application form, copies of all postsecondary transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and results of the Graduate Record Examination General Test and the Subject Test in Biology
