Negotiation Definition To confer with another to arrive at a settlement –to deal with a matter for successful managing –to arrange for or bring about through conference, discussion, and compromise –to transfer to another by delivery or endorsement

Negotiation Processes Before Negotiating –Have a plan of action –Research and create pre-negotiation objectives –Develop a team of experts –Create signals for the team to communicate

Negotiation Process Continued During Negotiations –Find a common interest –Watch for opponents non- verbal clues –Think in terms of grey –LISTEN! –Think positive and know that you have power

Successful Negotiations Every successful negotiation results in Win/Win situations Negotiating is a necessary skill
