‘Research as Learning’ (CM4g)

What is ‘Research as Learning’? 10 credit WSC module Offered by the Undergraduate Skills Programme Can be put towards the 30 credit Warwick Skills Certificate Tutor for the module: Dr Darren Ambrose

Warwick Skills Certificate Will help you: – develop your study skills – focus on your personal development – make you more employable It's free and available to all Warwick undergraduates

Module content The module is based on the concept of research-based learning Will help you to develop: – your own research skills – your competence and confidence as a self-managed member of the immediate and wider research community

The module will help you to develop the skills you need to… Produce a plan for your research project Plan and manage your own work and time Demonstrate that you can work in line with best practice research in your discipline Show that you can work with others Write a project report, article, webpage, seminar or conference paper Present your research to others

Some comments from past participants… The most useful part of the module was learning how to begin thinking about a research proposal. The thought processes I used can now be applied to my research project. 3rd year undergraduate (Chemistry) Research as learning is a course that I feel is very useful in contributing to and enhancing the skills required to become an independent researcher. 4th year undergraduate (Biological Sciences) The content of the module was relevant to a wide range of academic backgrounds. The atmosphere in class was very relaxed and friendly. 3rd year undergraduate (Chemistry)

When will the module take place? Saturday 25 th April, 10am-3pm (week 1) Saturday 20 th June, 10am-3pm (week 9) Only need to attend one session

How can I sign up? Go to the Warwick Skills Certificate website and follow links to the ‘Research as Learning’ information page. go.warwick.ac.uk/usp/wsc Contact Sarah Shute for more information
