Matthew 1:1-5
This Christmas Family Tree has four Gentiles in it and they were all women. – Tamar was a Canaannite – Rahab from Jericho – Ruth a Moabitess – Uriah’s wife who was a Hittite
Rahab illustrates for us the two-fold work of Christ for every believer. – First, Christ work For us – Secondly, Christ work IN us
Rahab confessed her faith in verse 11, but she demonstrated her faith in verse 21. She was crowned for her faith – Rahab who was a prostitute and Sarah whose name means Princess. So we have the princes and the prostitute chosen to represent faith that honored God and magnified Him in all His purposes.
She was crowned for her fidelity – Rahab had a saving faith and its from her life we can know: Works are a companion of saving faith. Works are a completion of saving faith. Works are a confirmation of saving faith.
We are saved by faith and not by works; but a faith that saves is a faith that works.
She was crowned for her new family. – Now you may not be like Rahab. You may have culture and clout. But may I tell you that it’s not the amount of sin that condemns you; it is the fact of sin. Just one sin can send you to hell.
