Disempowerment People who are disempowered believe that they have little control over their lives. They are not able to make choices about things that matter to them. They might think the rules they have to live by are unfair, but they don’t have the power to change the rules.

Human Rights Human Rights- These are the rights of every person to be empowered (economically, politically, culturally, and socially) Human rights also include the right of a person to be a citizen of a nation and to have other nations respect this fact.

Children and Disempowerment It is hard for children to speak up for themselves because adults have the authority in almost all situations.

Convention on the Rights of the Child Convention on the Rights of the Child- In 1990, Canada signed this document. - It says that children have the right to grow up in a welcoming home, the right to play, and the right to get an education.
