Review homework on completing exam question and map In pairs can you think of 3 responses that humans are making to try to combat climate change?

Local and Global Responses to Climate Change To be able to demonstrate knowledge of responses to climate change.

1) To be able to describe basic details of the responses to climate change. 2) To be able to describe with detail and explain the local and global responses to climate change. 3) To apply today’s knowledge to create a Information Page* in groups to cover YOUR SCHOOL, LOCAL COUNCIL LOCAL INTEREST GROUP.

To be able to describe basic details of the responses to climate change. Who can make a response (solution – move in the right direction) to climate change? Clue: think at different scales How can these different PEOPLE make a difference? Review the following resources and movies and answer using the writing frame questions below.

To be able to describe with detail and explain the local and global responses to climate change. Arrange then copy these five detailed explanations. One Category, one Example, one idea, one fact. GLOBAL BY SCHOOLS – ‘LIVE SIMPLY’ Encourage people to reduce their carbon footprint by involvement in green energy projects. Target countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Notices to turn off lights and energy efficient central heating. GLOBAL LOCAL BY INTERST GROUPS – ‘MANCHESTER IS MY PLANET’ BY NON GOV ORG – ‘GREENPEACE’ BY INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS – ‘KYOTO PRTOCOL’ BY COUNCILS – ‘CITY OF LONDON’ 20,000 people have a Green Badge Parking Permit because they own low emission car. 5.2% decrease compare with 1990 levels although countries could trade carbon credits. Campaign initiated by the Catholic Church in Pressures governments to reform inefficient power stations and sustainable transport. Transport produces 22% of UK carbon emissions. Halting airport building would help. Free low energy light bulbs and collecting recycling bins. 15% of UK carbon emission is produced by houses.

To apply today’s knowledge to create an Information Page* in groups to cover YOUR SCHOOL, LOCAL COUNCIL, LOCAL INTEREST GROUP. Task: in groups create an Information Page* to develop the Local Responses into something far more memorable and exciting. It is for uploading on to the web. Things to include: St. Peter’s Academy, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, An Interest Group of your choice. The category, the example, the ideas, the facts, images, web links. Things to use: Your knowledge, leaflets, these organisations, web sites. Ask yourself: Is the Information Page we have made……. A Useful Revision sheet? (MUST). Contain all the things we had to include? (SHOULD). Contain extended skills like videos of evidence, a survey to review participation or success (COULD).

Now complete and mark the exam question
