MAN UP BIBLE SERIES Be All You Can Be Lesson Thirteen
The Real World As I look back over my past 30 years of ministry I can see all those who have prayed and asked Jesus Christ to save them. It is the reason we are here on this earth. To be His witnesses and to live in such as way that others want to know Him. So what about you? When was the last time you prayed with someone and they accepted Christ? Maybe you have not thought about this in quite a long time. Why have you not been involved in witnessing to others? You can do that most by the way that you live. You can use words if you must. But the Great Commission at the end of Matthew is as real today as it was 2,000 years ago: “You shall be my Witnesses.” We are called to be His hands, His feet, His mouth. Lets take a look at what the Bible has to say to us today about a regular guy named Andrew who had an extraordinary heart.
The Real Word John 1 John’s Disciples Follow Jesus 35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” 37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” 39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. 40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter [g] ).g
Real Talk When is the last time you told anyone about Jesus? Do you have someone you should witness to? Make a plan in the next week to tell someone about Jesus:
Real Steps What Kind of Heart did Andrew have: A Knowledgeable Heart (v.35) He knew Christ. A Magnetized Heart (v.41) Drawn to Christ. Drew others. A Selfless Heart (v ) Brought His Popular Brother. An Optimistic Heart (John 6:5-9) Brought fish and Loaves An Expansive Heart (John 12:20 -22) Brought Greeks. 90 % of people come to faith through a friend or relative. Evangelism is all about relationships. Value your relationships. Identify your relationships. Invest in your relationships.
Time to Close So here we are at the end of this Bible Study. What are you going to take away from this? Take some time today to think about who you could witness to about the love you have for Christ. It is your story. And like Andrew bring them to meet Jesus. You will be amazed at the response if you take the chance to reach out. Make a plan to spend time with a friend this week. Invite them to a meal. Plan an event out together like a movie or a game. Look for an interest club you can join as an opportunity to be in contact with those who need Christ. You could even open your home to the neighborhood. Be the most hospitable home on the block! The chorus of the song rings true in my heart,” People Need the Lord, At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door.” Open your door so they can open their hearts. Time to MAN UP!
