 Academic: The School Counselors will incorporate the Career Clusters document into the K-12 curriculum.  Personal/Social: The School Counseling Department will raise awareness and provide resources for the on-going mental health needs of students.  Career: The School Counseling Department will develop a mandatory job shadow experience for all 11 th grade students.

Using a “phase in” approach, School Counselors will begin introducing the topic of Career Clusters in grade 5. a. Grade 5 – The Elementary Counselors introduce the Career Clusters document (began ). b. Grade 6 – Students have access to using Bridges On- line Career Portfolio. c. Grade 7 – Students participate in the “Good Life Project.” Ninety percent of 7 th graders will be able to identify career clusters of interest. d. Grade 8 – Students will continue to narrow down cluster choice based on interest inventory results. e. Grades 9-12 – These goals will be developed as the current 7 th graders move to HS. Focus will be on career clusters and the impact on elective choices.

Grade 7 – “Good Life Project” Ninety percent of 7 th graders will be able to identify career clusters of interest.  Bridges On-line Career Portfolio identifies specific clusters that students can continue to explore throughout high school.  Able to assist students with narrowing down electives and to help with choosing a college major or other post-secondary education/training.  Able to provide information to departments to guide scheduling and the development of future courses.

 The School Counseling Department will raise awareness and provide resources for the on-going mental health needs of students.

Mental Health Awareness  The Suicide Prevention/Crisis Protocol will be completed and approved by Executive Council by the end of the school year.  The School Counseling Department will continue with support groups and partner with the Caring Place for bereavement groups.  Counselors will hold in-service days focused on Mental Health Issues.

 The School Counseling Department will develop a mandatory job shadow experience for all 11 th grade students.

The goal was to increase the percentage of 11 th grade students who have completed a job shadow experience from 16% to 25%.
