The Singing Salmon Shanon C. Trevor M. Trevor M. Kristen J. Kristen J. Kyrie K. Kyrie K. Jerot S. Jerot S.

Where do we come from? We attend La Center High School. Which is located North of Vancouver.

What Do We Do? Test water with two fourth grade classes Take record of each day tested Raise ChoHo and Chum eggs Release our salmon into our watershed

Hypothesis If the dissolved oxygen (ppm) and turbidity (cm) are high then there is a higher probability of salmon survival because the water would be breathable and there is less sediment.

What is Dissolved Oxygen? The saturation of oxygen in water. Why is Dissolved Oxygen Important? D.O is what allows the Fish to breath and makes it easier for decomposition of matter in the water.

Dissolved Oxygen For Brezee Creek MonthSite #1Site #2 Sep.9 ppm10ppm Oct.9 ppm11ppm Nov.8ppm10.5ppm Dec.10ppm Jan.12ppm11ppm Feb.11ppm10.5ppm Mar.12ppm9ppm Apr.10ppm11.5ppm May12ppm Not Tested Our dissolved oxygen levels for both sites showed that our creek was suitable for the salmon population

What is Turbidity? Turbidity indicates the amount of suspended sediment in the water. Why is Turbidity Important? High turbidity can have negative effects to aquatic life, such as suffocation due to the high amounts of sediment in the water.

Turbidity For Brezee Creek MonthSite #1Site #2 Sept.120cm113cm Oct.120cm115cm Nov.120cm Dec.119cm106cm Jan.100cm120cm Feb.120cm Mar.95cm120cm Apr.120cm May120cm Not Tested The turbidity levels show that the sediment level was very low in Brezee Creek. Turbidity can also be measured in NTU’S (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit)
