 Choral Music Education faculty search interviews completed. Music theory interviews completed, committee recommendations made and calls to recommended candidates have begun.  Admissions and Outreach staff search interviews completed. Interim appointment likely after Toni Robinson concludes her work next week.  Department chair nominations / candidate status.  Voluntary Separation program for faculty and staff outline and updates.

 Health and Safety Issues for Musicians: where, when and how do we cover these topics?  How can blended course delivery schedules and content change the way our students experience music instruction? And What alterations can be made in organizing major ensemble class schedules that may permit more flexibility in the student ensemble experience?  Re-envisioning the undergraduate music education curriculum.

 8-10 Peer advisors identified for program launch in fall semester for conditionally admitted students and those that encounter academic difficulties.  Peer advisors trained over summer by H. Pickens who will also monitor program with M. Thompson and meet with participating students periodically.

 Commencement  4-4:30 Refreshments for Faculty & Emeritus Faculty – Green Rm. Lineup for procession at 4:25.  4:30 Ceremony begins; reception afterwards  Academic apparel preferred, or business apparel

 1-4:30 p.m. on May 14, 15, and 16 (Tuesday – Thursday) These three afternoons the Delphi Center will hold a workshop for music faculty members interested in developing online or blended courses. Faculty members completing the workshop will emerge with instructional units / courses that can be posted on the web. A minimum of 5 faculty members committed to attendance by COB May 1 is required. Participants completing the workshop will receive a $500 professional development fund for AY

 Revise bio and new photo for website (if not already completed).  Track recent alums and let Debbie Hawley know what and where recent graduates are.  Story ideas for summer edition of Notes alla Breve to the dean by May 16.

 Faculty discussion topics, all 9-11:30 a.m.  May 14, Connecting with arts groups in the region.  May 15, Re-envisioning the certification track in choral music education.  May 16, Re-envisioning the certification track in instrumental music education.

 What does the school want to achieve with the Convocation program?  A periodic coming together of more of the school students and faculty.  A more regular and organized program of presentations.  A greater appreciation for the breadth of excellence in the school and value of the convocation experience.  Providing opportunities for regular student organization meetings.

 Reserve one Thursday of the month for student music organization meetings.  Creation of one to two All-School Honors Convocation each semester to be attended by students and faculty. Such convocations to showcase nominated student performances / papers.

 Establishment of Guest Speaker Series (two per semester) to include the Grawemeyer-winning composer, one faculty speaker nominated and selected by the music students, and two luminary speakers nominated and selected by the faculty.  (optional) One convocation each year moderated by the Dean and devoted to presentations / Q/A, discussion on matters of interest to the school.

 All other Convocation programs available for student performances and presentations with lottery for performance dates among student performers. (Estimated 7 opportunities per semester)

 (supporting materials attached to minutes)  Essentially, the proposal seeks approval to add quality points representing A+=4.3 for computation of student grades, with cumulative GPA’s capped at 4.0.  Comparative data suggests little use in Ky public universities, mixed use in peer / benchmark institutions.
