Master’s Project Rigels Bejleri
10/10/14 Decided to use properties from Kollar and Springer Book (AS/3501) It has properties for fibers, matrix, and fiber matrix It has Vf = 66 % (fiber volume) For now FGM plates will have same volume ratio Also for LCP will use fiber/matrix properties For FGM plates will use fiber and matrix properties to figure out distribution of properties through the plate assuming 10 layers An alternative method might be to use the E2 values
10/11/14 – laminated.configuration1 Thickness of chosen ply is.127 mm Will use 20 plys to get to thickness of 2.54mm or t=.00254m For 1 st Laminated plate will assume the orientation of plys changes in pairs meaning 1 and 2 are same as are 3 and 4 or 5 and 6 and so on Laminated.configuration1 is a [0,90,90,0,90]s configuration assuming ply orientations are in pair so there are only 10 plys Laminated.configuratio1.a is the same thing but with some code that creates the DB file removed Laminated.confiuration1.b is the same thing as a but actually looks at 20 layers so [0,0,90,90,90,90,0,0,90,90]s The results are the same so method used in lam.config.1.a is valid So the ansys model for 10 layer gets validated with the 10 layer maple code and then the 20 layer ansys matches the 10 layer maple so the 20 layer ansys is validated
10/11/14 – fgm.configuration1 FGM configuration 1: 100% graphite at outside Roughly in center Issue with graph colors First color always on bottom Want to make color asseoc
