TEXAS GEOGRAPHY REVIEW!
Presentation transcript:

By: Meredith Moore

1.Because I love warm weather. 2.I think it would be fun to hike the mountains of the southwest. 3.I’ve never been to any of the states. 4.I chose Arizona as my favorite state for the geographer activity and Arizona is in the Southwest. 5.Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas (the ¾ states in the Southwest) touch Mexico which I think would be fun to visit 6.There is lots of horseback riding in the Southwest. Over break I figured out I like horseback riding a lot.

The scenery in Texas has lots of coastline and some coastal plain because it is right by the Gulf of Mexico. Ten percent of Texas is desert. Oklahoma has many small mountain ranges and plains. Oklahoma varies between zero and a thousand feet above sea level. Oklahoma has three major rivers: Arkansas river, North Canadian River, and Canadian River. New Mexico has the highest and most elevation of all of the states in the Southwest. The highest point is about 13161ft. high at Wheeler Peak. Lastly, Arizona has the biggest range of elevation. It varies between 0 and 5,000 feet above sea level. It has many rivers, canyons, and plateaus. You probably know the famous Grand Canyon.

I would need to pack clothing for warm weather, if I were to go to the Southwest. The southwest has mild winters and exceptionally hot summers. There is not a lot of rain. I would probably pack dresses, skirts, bathing suits, sandals, tennis shoes, shorts, short sleeve t-shirts, underwear, socks, and a light jacket for the winter. The supplies I would need are… a cold water bottle because it is very easy to get dehydrated in the hot weather. I would also need a fan, a ponytail to pull my hair up off of my back so I won’t get hot, a cell phone to contact people, hiking equipment, and more water !!!
