Honda factory, Guangzhou, China Objective: provide drinkable water to 5'000 employees
A six-stage Reverse Osmosis system was installed to purifiy the city water, which is not drinkable Capacity: 2 m 3 per hour (2'000 liters /h)
123 Sand filter Carbon activated filter Softener
Reverse Osmosis system (2 m 3 / hour – 24 m 3 / 12 hours) 4 parallel membranes 4
5 Ozonation system Protects water against any biological contamination until consumption, even if kept in a tank or in pipes for several days
Purified and ozonated water is stored in two storage tanks of 2m 3 each (one of them is a spare tank used when the first one periodic wash)
Ultra Violet (UV) system Kills any living cell (bacteria, etc.) (an additional biological desinfection after ozonation, in case contamination would develop in the tank) 6
Pressure pumps send the water through the factory tubes
Drinkable water is available throughout the factory through fountains and distributors
The reverse Osmosis treatment rejects approximately 30% of processed water, which is unproper to human consumption
Rejected water is used for watering plants
The system is fully automatic and doesn't require a permanent operator (half-day maintenance and control weekly, by a specially trained factory staff)
