MESOAMERICAN CARIBBEAN SEA HYDROGRAPHIC COMMISSION TASK GROUP 2 ENC PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION “STATUS REPORT”

TASK GROUP 2 MEMBERS ARE: MEXICO (CHAIRMAN) COLOMBIA JAMAICA NETHERLANDS PANAMA TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO UNITED KINGDOM UNITED STATES OF AMERICA VENEZUELA

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF TASK GROUP 2 IS: “TO OVERCOME THE LACK OF ENC´S COVERING MAJOR PORTS AND SHIPPING ROUTES OF THE MACHC REGION THROUGH PROMOTING THE PRODUCTION OF ENC DATA BY NATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC OFFICES AND THEREBY CONTRIBUTING TO IMPROVED MARITIME AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY.”

TG2 WILL UNDERTAKE THE FOLLOWING TASKS: SELECT AND PRIORITISE ROUTES FOR ENC COVERAGE AND PRODUCTION USING OBJECTIVE CRITERIA IDENTIFY ENC PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES ALONG THE SELECTED ROUTES PREPARE AN ACTION PLAN AND MILESTONES RECOMMEND OPTIONS FOR DISTRIBUTION OF ENC´S TO THE SHIPPING MARKET

RECOMMEND AND, WHERE APPROPIATE, ESTABLISH COOPERATIVE ARRANGEMENTS FOR ENC PRODUCTION, QUALITY ASSURANCE AND MAINTENANCE PROVIDE A REPORT OF EACH MEETING TO THE MACHC ECWG
