BEATEN DOWN BUT NOT DESTROYED

Targeted Interim Assessment Project

OUR MEANS OF COMMUNICATING IS NOT WORKING…

REASONS WHY THEY DON’T KNOW They don’t know that they don’t know. You had a training, but they didn’t come. They came to the training, but they didn’t share the information with others. They don’t want to give the target test, so they don’t care to know.

Effective Communication

WHAT’S NEW FOR

Grades Old tests available—frameworks only multiple selection guides (just omit the green)—20 MC and 1 OR New tests for —CCSS only—multiple selection guides—30 MC and 1 PT Selection N (new)—CCSS only—no selection guide—30 MC and 1 PT Pre and Post tests for all new tests are CCSS with 40 MC questions.

HIGH SCHOOL Tests based on the Arkansas frameworks Algebra 1 EOC still used as high stakes test Geometry EOC still requires remediation No Algebra 2 EOC Use old selection guides New colored selection guides will be available, but not tested. Use for study of what is coming. No Selection N for high school

Benefits of Selection N 3-8 Selection N solves these problems: “I don’t like to teach in this order!” “I am not ready to be tested on that—I’m not finished!” Confusion over selection guides (testing guidelines)

Benefits of Selection N 3-8 Will follow PARCC Model Content Frameworks Major—greatest emphasis (most assessed) depth of ideas time it takes to master importance to future mathematics demands of college/career readiness Supporting—designed to support and strengthen areas of major emphasis (assessed through support of major topics) Additional—may not connect tightly to other standards—do not omit—leaves gaps

Benefits of Selection N 3-8 Use Content and Learning Progressions Pre test question Interim 1 - lowest level Interim 2 - medium level Interim 3 - highest level Post test question parallel to pre test question Can follow a question type from pre test, through interims, and then to post

Benefits of Selection N 3-8 Use the multiple test reports

SCIENCE Pre and Post tests are parallel and the same as last year’s tests. They have 40 Multiple Choice Items. 3 interim tests all released at the same time (LIFE, PHYSICAL, EARTH AND SPACE). School can give these when they wish. 4 Biology interim tests each released at the same time. School can give them at any time they wish. There is no selection guide for science.

USEFUL REPORTS Objective Performance Student Score Listing by Student Item Analysis by Class by Student Item Distribution Analysis Individual Student Report of Performance on a Specific Test (Student Tracking) Re-teach/Enrich (Student Tracking)

Objective Performance Report This report shows the skills assessed and it groups students by performance bands ( %, 70-84%, 0-69%).

Student Score Listing by Student This report shows multiple-choice, open- response (performance tasks), and essay scores per student with a composite score and percentage.

Item Analysis by Class by Student This report shows the answer each student gave for each question.

Item Distribution Analysis This report shows which answer was chosen by which percentage of students.

Student Tracking—Individual Student Reports These reports show individual student performance on each item.

Student Tracking -Enrich/Reteach This report shows students who mastered the objectives and those who did not.
