 Created: 1835  Media: Oil paint  Subject: Grand Canal

 Created: 1823–1824  Subject: Battle of Trafalgar  Genre: History painting

 Definition : an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century  It stressed strong emotion, imagination, and freedom from classical notions of form in art  the quality or state of being impractical or unrealistic : romantic feelings or ideas  Description: Bright colors ; it is based on real places, such as water landscapes and events that happened. He used mostly water color and oil paint. His paintings are realistic but with loose brush strokes.

 Analyze  The area of emphasis in the artwork is the ship. The artist made it stand out by just making the ship in the middle of the canal  An element of art is color because it uses a lot of color and a principle is emphasis because it focuses your eye on just 2 parts of the painting

 This artwork has an emotional feeling to Turner because he made frequent visits to Petworth, where his family lived. After the death of his father Turner painted the Chichester Canal reminding him of his father. Interpret The artwork is stirringly and truthfully measuring the moods of Nature

Evaluate  I think that the artwork is successful because it shows emphasis, color, and shape. Turner’s artwork has an emotional feeling because it is about his fathers death. I chose this artist because I like how he makes his artworks and the meaning of them.

 ARTIST STATEMENT  I created an artwork that uses the style of romanticism, similar to the artist Joseph Mallord William. My artwork shows influence from this style by using calm colors and using different colors. The emotion I was trying to express wit this artwork is calm, relax. I showed this by using calm colors like pink and blue. The area of dominance in my artwork is the sun. it stands out because it’s the brightest color in my artwork.
