Eurostat-Task Force Statistics on Crime. Luxembourg, 31 May 2005 Crime statistics in Spain Victimisation In Spain there is not an official statistical source that covers the crime which are not reported to the police. The National Statistics Institute is interested in carry out a survey of victimisation, domestic violence and violence against women.

Luxembourg, 31 May 2005 Crime statistics in Spain Police-reported crime(1) The Ministry of Interior provides in your Statistical Yearbook information on crimes and misdemeanour. The data collection is made by two questionnaires, one that is about police actions and the other about people under arrest.

Eurostat-Task Force Statistics on Crime. Luxembourg, 31 May 2005 Crime statistics in Spain Police-reported crime(2) The crimes are classified in carried out crimes and criminal attempts. There are also available figures referred to cleared up crimes. The Ministry of Interior also presents data about people under arrest, and the reasons. The figures are broken down by the nationality of the person. This Ministry offers limited information about victims.

Luxembourg, 31 May 2005 Crime statistics in Spain Prosecution, convictions and corrective measures(1) The criminal justice statistics are made by the National Statistics Institute collaborating with the General Council of the Judiciary, that elaborates some statistics for their own purposes: To obtain a global understanding about the activity of the Courts and Tribunals: –Amount of matters registered and resolved –total number of judgements handed down and the sense of their ruling, convicting or acquitting –etcetera

Luxembourg, 31 May 2005 Crime statistics in Spain Prosecution, convictions and corrective measures(2) The system used in the collection of the information for the criminal justice statistics carried out by the INE is based on the bulletin on convicted. This bulletin, apart from outlining the personal circumstances, includes data related to the crime and the corrective measures imposed.

The organised crime data are usually included in the total national criminal offences data but they can´t be identifiable separately.
