Napa River Bride Background Information Built in Spans Precast girder on flexible 2 column piers and 4 column piers. 2

Background Information 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake repairs were conducted 1996 an extensively retrofit was implemented ◦ Bolsters and transverse prestressing to the end of the diaphragm ◦ Expansion joints retrofit ◦ Additional piles and large pilecaps ◦ Columns incase in steel jackets 3

Background Information 2001 A strong motion is installed to the bridge with 12 accelerometers on bridge and 3 at free field site. 4

Background Information 5

2014 Napa Earthquake M6.0 Earthquake south of the city of Napa 6

Recorded Data, Transverse Direction The evaluation of the record in the transverse direction Channels 1,5,6,7,9and11 were analyzed respectively 7

Record Evaluation Acceleration 8

Record Evaluation Velocity 9

Record Evaluation Displacement 10

Recorded Data, Longitudinal Direction The evaluation of the record in the logitudinal direction Channels 3,8and12 were analyzed respectively 11

Bridge Damage 21 A PEER assessment was conducted to the bridge

Bridge Damage 22

Conclusions 23 Record evaluation can provide a quick assessment of the bridge after an earthquake. It can provide to understand the dynamic behavior of the bridge as a whole and in some specific structural elements An ambient vibration test is necessary to have a better understanding of the bridge.
