ette.com/resources/ art-lesson-plans/k- 5th-grade-lesson- plans/ Page with lots of enrichment

First Grade: Textured animals Notice the variety of animals: animals with fur, feathers, scales, wings, fins, skin, number of legs… Make artistic choices: Choose an animal. Then, based on the shape of the animal, choose to format the paper vertically or horizontally (window or door way). Draw large to use the page well. The animal should touch left and right sides, or top and bottom of the page. PRACTICE ON SKETCH PAPER, then put on 8 ½ x 11 drawing paper. Finish the picture drawing by showing where the animal is. If you are unsure, ask your table partners if it looks like it needs something anywhere.

First Grade: Textured animals Notice the variety of animals Make artistic choices: Choose an animal, format of your page & media Draw large to use the page well. Work with pattern.

steps Divide the animal into sections. Add paint, chalk and colored pencil, or (over/under?) markers. Look at and discuss the patterns in “Donkey for Sale” transparency and the pattern sampler. (make a sampler?) Search Flickr for “tangle patterns” and Look at texture/pattern samples overhead Put pattern in the sections. Use the pattern and sections to tell you when to change colors. Add google eyes?
