The value extracted by services using national infrastructure is insufficient and unsustainable. The cost of ownership of the infrastructure platforms is becoming unaffordable. The vision of UKCRIC is to create and operate a national and international multidisciplinary research and innovation programme that addresses both these issues, in a partnership between Industry, Government and Academia. It starts with enhanced capital investment in shared facilities in academic institutions but will involve further development of a wide range of multidisciplinary research and teaching programmes.
