 The city of BuzAu is the county seat of Buz ă u County, Romania, in the historical region of Wallachia. It lies near the right bank of the Buz ă u River.

The city's most important landmark is the Communal Palace, built between 1899 and 1903, now serving as City Hall. Cuza Voda Street, in the old commercial town centre From the Communal Palace, Cuza Vod ă Street leads to the Bazaar. The Cuza Vod ă Street features late 19th century buildings

The oldest building in Buz ă u is the Vergu-MAnAilA house, erected in the 17th or 18th century as a boyars' mansion. Renovated between 1971–1974, it now hosts the local Museum of ethnography and folk art.

An old tradition of the city is the Dr ă gaica fair, a midsummer fair traced back to traditional shepherd's fairs in the Buz ă u mountains, that moved to Buz ă u sometimes before the 18th century.

The Berca Mud Volcanoes are a geological and botanical reservation located in the Berca commune in the Buz ă u County in Romania. Its most spectacular feature is the mud volcanoes, small volcano-shaped structures typically a few metres high caused by the eruption of mud and natural gases. Situated in the county of Buzau, Magura is known for the sculpture camp that was held here every year between 1970 and The event contributed to the formation of several generations of high school pupils and graduates of the Bucharest Academy of Arts.

The Ciolanu Monastery is a monastery of Eastern Orthodox monks, located in the TisAu commune, Buz ă u County, Romania. It was erected around 1570 by Dumitru Ciolanu, a boyar from Buz ă u, whose name it bears, together with the Sorescu boyar family from the nearby VerneSti commune.

Lake Siriu is an artificial dam lake in Romania, on the Buz ă u River valley. Construction of the dam started in 1982, and the 42 MW Nehoiau hydroelectric plant was opened in The dam is a 122 m high embankment dam with a clay core, the second largest embankment dam in Romania.

ColTi is known for having been the only place in Romania where amber was extracted. The old amber mine has been closed since 1948, but the commune is the location of the only amber museum in Romania.

The Pietroasele Thesaurus The thesaurus was discovered in 1837 by two masons who thought that the pieces had no real value, being made of brass. According to the declarations and the facts gathered in time, the thesaurus would have had 22 pieces that weighed a few pounds of gold. In the attempt to be sold and passed over the border the voluminous pieces of the thesaurus were brutally fragmented. Now the thesaurus is on display in the Thesaurus hall at the National Museum of Romanian History form Bucharest. It ahs only 12 pieces with a total weight of 19,820 kg in gold:
