Diesel fuel is a great alternative to regular fuel because it is eco friendly. However there is a shortage in diesel and the use of regular gasoline is resulting in global climate change.

Many use off road diesel because it is inexpensive, however it is illegal because of the harmful fumes it releases. A heavy fine is required if you are caught using off road diesel.

Many environmentalist choose to buy hybrid vehicles or diesel vehicles to help the planet, but this is depleting the diesel supply even more so. This This is BMW’s new diesel car. It is eco friendly as well as sporty. With 356 horse power, it packs a mean punch.

Many who aren’t purchasing hybrid vehicles are doing what’s called “going green”. They are getting a diesel engine inserted in their car and using vegetable oil as fuel. Vegetable oil can be used as diesel just as it is, without being converted to biodiesel. Left over oil from fast food restaurants will work, even the oil you use in your own home will work, and is less expensive than gasoline.

Vegetable oil is an alternative fuel for diesel engines and for heating oil burners. For engines designed to burn diesel fuel, the viscosity of vegetable oil must be lowered to allow for proper atomization of the fuel, otherwise incomplete combustion and carbon build up will ultimately damage the engine. Many enthusiasts refer to vegetable oil used as fuel as waste vegetable oil (WVO) if it is oil that was discarded from a restaurant or straight vegetable oil (SVO) or pure plant oil (PPO) to distinguish it from biodiesel.

There are many advantages associated with the use of waste vegetable oil as fuel. The first thing is that it is free of cost and is easily available in the kitchen. Secondly it produces fewer green house emissions like carbon dioxide and sulfur and thus reduces pollution to some extent.

The vegetable oil fuel conversion is a very cheap process and produces less dangerous emissions as compared to a diesel engine. And after the fuel conversion, there is tremendous decrease in production of emissions. The use of biodiesel contributes to reduction of many air toxic pollutants like dust, particles, carbon monoxide and sulfur oxide. It doesn’t require any special storage and is safer to handle as compared to petroleum diesel.

The conversion of waste vegetable oil into biodiesel is a bit expensive process than the above one but has many other advantages. The use of biodiesel contributes to reduction of many air toxic pollutants like dust, particles, carbon monoxide and sulfur oxide. It doesn’t require any special storage and is safer to handle as compared to petroleum diesel.
