Prophase Chromatin fibers shorten into chromosomes. Later, nucleolus disappears, the nuclear envelope breaks down and the 2 centrosomes begin to form the miotic spindle. (assembly of microtubules) Eventually the spindles extend between two opposite poles of the cell.
