 What is an online curriculum?  How can I find information and apps to help my students be successful?  How can I best engage my students use the iPad in class?

 What would you do differently in your classroom if you had access to the world in class?  What would you continue to do the same in your classroom?  Are you afraid to fail? Why or why not?

 Network goes down  Apps don’t work  Can’t project  iPad isn’t charged  Apps don’t work  Don’t have it

 Life skills ◦ iPad charged ◦ Bring iPad ◦ Responsibility  Content  Homework (late work?)  Don’t be afraid to close the iPads

 What am I teaching my students? ◦ Life skills (responsibility, bringing their tools to work every day, having their iPad charged, etc.) ◦ Content (I can give a kid a charger, let’s move on and learn)

 Late work ◦ In the real world…  Homework ◦ Is it busy work? ◦ Are they learning a skill (repetition) ◦ Are they real tasks with meaning attached?

 iPad out  Have homework open on the app  Go to Moodle/Schoology/EdModo/Google Sites, etc.  Have something be the same every day. Use the iPad at least daily, at least for 5-10 minutes.

 Allow students access to all classroom documents ◦ Helps students who were absent, remediation, differentiation, students with I.E.P.s, and really, all students.  Helps teachers organize their semester curriculum  Eases transition from year to year

 Set up class lists from iPad (TeacherLogic) ◦ Have students set you as a VIP, that way, your e- mail will pop up on their screen  Use students as resources. Have them find videos, articles, etc  Focus on production. ◦ Differentiated assessment ◦ Have students produce videos, record their voice, etc.

 Options ◦  Folders and filters ◦ DropBox (app)  Folders and share them with your students  Web enabled, app, and phone ◦ Box.net (app)  Folders and share them with your students  Web enabled, app, and phone

◦ EdModo (similar to FB)  Timestamped  Peer review ◦ Moodle  Timestamped  Peer review ◦ Schoology (similar to FB)  Timestamped  Peer review ◦ Google Drive  Students create folders and share with you. ◦ Student shared Drive  Timestamped ◦ Student hand-in folder  Timestamped

 Be firm  Be flexible  Students must label their assignments correctly

 technology/mobile-technology-apps/ipad-as technology/mobile-technology-apps/ipad-as

 Off task behavior has always been there.  It just now looks different  Redirect them  Timer (I time almost every activity we do)

 Choose 1 LMS and go with it.  Organize your (add filters)  Organize a homework system (DropBox, Box.net, Google Drive)  Notability (paid app that can do everything) Schoology Moodle EdModo Google Sites WikiSpaces. Make sure it works with your technology.

 Save all documents as.PDF  Videos or recording samples (camera) ◦ YouTube channels (students upload videos as unlisted or oculto)  Online calendar-Google Calendar (we have Gmail)  Saves Language Lab space  Attend a conference-don’t get bogged down with “cool” apps

 What is an online curriculum? ◦ LMS-24 hour access, intervention strategies, absences, differentiation, students with special needs, Individualized Education Plans  How can I find information and apps to help my students be successful? ◦ Put them to work. Have students find useful sites, apps, etc.  How can I best engage my students use the iPad in class?  The iPad does not replace you the teacher!

 Do I have to go paperless? ◦ No  Online quizzes ◦ Quia, Schoology, EdModo, Moodle, Google  Cheating ◦ it just looks different now.  Twitter ◦ I highly recommend it. ◦ Follow educators and anyone who you like in your language.
