Helping children build their lives

Objective Our mission is to make under-privileged children independent and individual. We.. Create interest in learning and motivate them to attend school Encourage children to ask questions and take decisions Increase confidence in them and improve their lateral thinking Enable them to make life & career decisions without external influences

How we do it We use hands-on approach teaching techniques and team work to achieve our goal. We use games to increase children’s interest and improve their understanding. Some of the games/activities we use: – Math maze: to introduce integers, additions and subtractions – Fiber and Fabric: introduce how clothes are made, weaving etc – Wind wane: introduce air around us (speed of wind, pressure etc) – Using straws to introduce geometrical structures (angles, edges etc) – Use cardboards to show geometrical shapes (area, volume etc) – Use straws to show water around us (hand pumps, pressure levels etc) – Use tiles to explain algebra – Etc etc

Student activities Math Maze Kids displaying their fabric bands Wind Vane Tetrahedron structures made by kids

Happy children Cardboard Shapes Straw Pump Kiran guiding students in testing acids/bases

Student Feedback Children are very excited and very proud to display their activities. Their comments: When will you come again? We love these activities. Easy to remember Response we received about children: Children are not missing the activity days and class strength is full They answer all questions related to activities

Teacher Feedback Nice reminder about our responsibilities as a teacher Very innovative way of teaching Happy to see kids excited to learn Excited to see that activities are relevant to syllabus Motivated to learn this way of teaching and interested in coming up with such activities ourselves These students will never forget what they learn Very thankful to the program

Our comments Literacy rate in India is at 65.2% and places her at 159 th position India is developing, but benefits are not reaching everyone Our focus is on children who come from uneducated families Development of any country depends on education and that is what we are focusing on We envisage decrease in drop-out rates which is a huge problem with these children We are looking at happy motivated children who can provide better future for themselves and the country Thank you for supporting us
