The Christmas tree has a present. Wrong! Three is a present under the Christmas tree. Right! This box has some sweets. Wrong! There are some sweets in this box. Right! The glass has no water. Wrong! There is no water in the glass. Right! The table has some candles. Wrong! There are some candles on the table. Right!

* Talk about the existence of people /things Use ‘There is’ before a singular noun or an uncountable noun. * Use ‘There are’ before a plural noun

1. There is a box in the house. 2.There are two jars on the table. 3.There is a lot of jam. 4. There are a lot of decorations on the Christmas tree. 5. There is some chocolate on your beard, John. 6.There is no water in your cup.

1.You are in a room. 2.Each student has a box. 3.Inside the box, there are many things. 4.Each student has to try your best to find as many things as possible in five minutes. 5.When you try to find the things, you have to ask your classmates questions by using ‘Is there’ or ‘Are there’……in your box? 6.When you answer questions, you have to answer ‘Yes,’ or ‘No,’ first and use “‘there is’ or ‘there are’ ………in my box.” to tell your answers.
