Interesting Facts History Major Only took a few classes in journalism Mentor advice was a retired reporter from the Miami Herald Worked in a company (Siecor, Corp.) that was 90% men, 80% engineers, and half of them came out of military

What does a PR/AD Supervisor do? Meetings “Real world group projects” Marketing campaigns A lot of learning Read magazine and trade journals about the industry Deal with employee layoffs, etc. Write news releases Average day 8:30-5:00 but read journals, magazines, etc. during weekends or at home

Necessary Skills Work well with others Clearly/concisely communicate Research… a lot Writing Patience and readiness to learn

What did I learn? Great deal of group work Not just about reading and writing, it’s about learning a new topic that you otherwise wouldn’t have studied Research is crucial, a lot of “deep-diving”
