M.Ed., Add-on Certification, Initial Certification, Ed.S. Some M.Ed. and certification classes meet one to two times on campus, rest is totally online. Ed.S. program is 100% online. 2

Important Information DO NOT self-advise!! Follow the program planned out by you and your advisor. If changes must be made, consult your advisor before changing your plan. Take no more than 2 courses per semester, especially Summer sessions. Save all of your projects; they may be required for a final electronic portfolio. 3

4 M.Ed. Program Requires 12 courses – 36 hours Courses required outside MEDT –EDRS 6301, 6302, or 6303 –CEPD 6101 Psychology of Classroom Learning –EDLE 6322 Curriculum for Educational Leaders

M.Ed. Additional Courses Some M.Ed. students may also need to take the following courses: –MEDT 6401 Instructional Technology (to meet UWG’s Technology Requirement / InTech. Test-out will not cover this requirement) –SPED 6706 Special Education in the Regular Education Classroom (to meet HB 671 Requirement) Students work with their advisors to determine if they need to take these courses. 5

8 Volunteer Hours Volunteer hours are now built into each course. Students will complete specific field activities in each course. Enhance the course work and provide students with opportunities to apply learning. Must volunteer at all levels. Must have 2 full days at levels other than worksite.

Policies and Procedures Handbook All students will work within groups to develop a School Library Media Policies and Procedures Handbook for their district/school. The Handbook is on-going, with various sections to be compiled and completed within specific courses in the program. 11

GACE for SLM There are two sections of the GACE for School Library Media. M.Ed. and Certification students must take both sections of the GACE certification test toward or at the end of their program.
