ECRIS 0 8 – 18 th International Workshop on ECR ION Sources Chicago, Illinois USA September 15-18, 2008 Workshop Attended by ~80 people 63 Abstracts Submitted (23 posters, 40 presentations) All abstracts submitted through JACoW JACoW site hosted through FNAL Currently attempting to publish proceedings

Use of JACoW Abstract submission went well, some editing/correction needed for “special” characters. IT dept. refused to assist with upload scripts/flat out refused to allow uploads by others due to virus concerns Used reports to create table in Excel and then used MS-Word Mail Merge to create abstract book publication Would be nice to create an export to CSV or tab-delimited format for all abstract information for such uses.

Still to do… Upload papers Publish proceedings –Creating and distributing to the attendees a memory stick with pdf’s of papers, posters and presentations, depending on total size –Not printing a book

Registration Did not use registration module Wanted registration system that would allow online payment but… IT dept. convinced us to allow them to create a registration system which could be used for future conferences/workshops… Documentation of registration module is needed

If I could go back in time and do it over again… Signed on to JACoW sooner to get more complete training Used the registration module More fully utilized this feature rich system
