ABO Group and Rh Type Some tests are not typically offered in an ambulatory setting. Ex. ABO Group & Rh Type in post-transfusion reaction test Drug Screens – One order code OR multiple order codes based on various cutoff values? Body Fluid tests – Each validated fluid type has its own Order Code and appropriate reference range. Ex. Glucose, Fluids: Pericardial, Peritoneal, Pleural, Synovial Method vs. Method-less Code? As the goal is to have a standard concise list, we cannot allow all LOINC codes to be used as an Order Code

If not, the test order name has to be distinctive. Anatomic Pathology – Report discrete data in multiple fields. Supports Cancer Registry reporting Microbiology – Ordered by specimen source OR aerobic vs. anaerobic culture OR organism name. Reflex tests – Initially a single result LOINC, which may require additional test(s) with additional LOINC code(s) or confirmatory test with additional LOINC code.
