Gaius Octavius Caesar was born on September 23,63 B.C.E. He died on August 19,14 A.D. Octavius was the first emperor of Rome. He had a extraordinary talent. He had the ability to take an active role in the shaping of a government. He was the nephew of Octavian Caesar.Octavian Caesar adopted Octavius, from the death of Octavius’ parents.

Because of Caesar’s assassination in 44 B.C.E, Octavius gained control of Rome. Octavius controlled the Roman empire. His job was to bring the Iberian Peninsula under Rome. Which he did accomplish. Octavius recruited a army from Caesar’s veterans. Waged no major wars. Created Rome's first permanent army and stationed the regions along the empires borders. Augustus channeled the enormous wealth brought in from the empire. Octavius gave Rome 40 years of civic peace increasing prosperity.

Octavius was interested in public buildings such as temples. He took it upon himself to repair all of the temples and make many more. Augustus tried to improve morals. He tried to pass laws to regulate marriages and family life.In A.D 9. he made adultery a criminal offense.Octavius tried to concern himself with every detail and concern with the empirer.

Augustus died while visiting the place of his fathers death. Octavius died on August 19,14 A.D. He had a illness.He Will always be know as “the greatest Emperor of Rome!” Octavius legacy will always be know. Octavius legacy was the work he put into the empire of Rome. Which then declined after his death. Augustus Octavius Caesar was a great ruler and was thought of as a king to most people in Rome.
