FRAMEWORK FOR INTERNATIONAL WEEK 2013 Theme: innovations Timing: (week 10) Locations – Mannerheimintie, Vanha Viertotie, Sofianlehdonkatu Funding – Sending organisation: salary, travel and accomodation costs for lecturers (often EU funds utilised) – Metropolia: lunches, dinner, sight seeing tour – No funding for students (!!)
TENTATIVE DIVISION OF LABOUR (1) Students – Innovating new contents and ways to arrange the International Week – Planning preparations in co-operation with teachers, international working group and co-ordinator, METKA, Metropolia Communications and Marketing, media, Helsinki tourist information, etc. – Participating in the implementation of the IW Please note: also other students are invited to assist in arrangements

WORKING IN AN INNOVATIVE GROUP Lotte Darsø: ”Preject” stage before the actual project – Asking questions, wondering, nonlinear and processual thinking -> linear, goal oriented Different roles in ”preject” management – Gardener (puutarhuri): participant’s wellbeing, mutual trust, energy level, time out – Jester (narri): asking ”stupid” and ”crazy” questions, proposing ideas, asking what if – Challenger (haastaja): challenging knowledge, asking ”rude” questions (role emphasised towards the end) – Conceptualiser (konseptoija): clarifying, illustrating, making summaries, narrowing down, keeping an eye on the entity
