ASSESSMENT PROGRAM

WHY ASSESS? Reasons to seek assessment: ● Improve your skills ● Work higher-level games ● Prove you've still got what it takes (yourself/others) ● Beat the maintenance clock ● Beat the chronological clock

TYPES OF ASSESSMENT OCSOA utilizes several types of assessments: ● New (for those new to OCSOA) ● Upgrade (desire higher level games) ● Maintenance (ensure standards) ● Blind (when performance is questioned) ● Play-Offs (ensure officials represent OCSOA's best)

NEW Assessment on either dual or diagonal system Pre-season, tournament, or regular season games Verbal feedback following the match Fee included in new membership Dues

UPGRADE Grade-dependent, either dual or diagonal system Most likely regular season games Verbal feedback followed by written report Fee paid by official

Purpose is to ensure:  referees are appropriately ranked  provide schools with competent officials Periodically assess our high-level referees ( ) Assessor fee paid by official Results in upgrade, maintain, or downgrade MAINTENANCE

BLIND Requested by OCSOA Board Official unaware, assessment unannounced Results go to Board Assessment fee paid by OCSOA
