TYPES OF ASSESSMENT OCSOA utilizes several types of assessments: ● New (for those new to OCSOA) ● Upgrade (desire higher level games) ● Maintenance (ensure standards) ● Blind (when performance is questioned) ● Play-Offs (ensure officials represent OCSOA's best)
NEW Assessment on either dual or diagonal system Pre-season, tournament, or regular season games Verbal feedback following the match Fee included in new membership Dues
UPGRADE Grade-dependent, either dual or diagonal system Most likely regular season games Verbal feedback followed by written report Fee paid by official
Purpose is to ensure: referees are appropriately ranked provide schools with competent officials Periodically assess our high-level referees ( ) Assessor fee paid by official Results in upgrade, maintain, or downgrade MAINTENANCE
BLIND Requested by OCSOA Board Official unaware, assessment unannounced Results go to Board Assessment fee paid by OCSOA
PLAY-OFFS Exclusively for Play-off/Final’s teams from each unit Entire team assessed (incl. 4th official) SCSOA & OCSOA-designated assessors Assessment fees paid by OCSOA
