Outline  Practice - Mock Interviews  Assignment – 10 Interview Questions

Point of View – Hills Like White Elephants  Examine the effectiveness of Hemmingway’s choice of point of view in the short story, Hills Like White Elephants.  Questions / Concerns?  Due today.

Mock Interviews  Scenario A An immigrant, newly landed in Canada. Travelled to our country to avoid persecution in his/her home country of Sierra Leone. It was a very dangerous trip to Canada, especially when the sailors found his family illegally stowed on the bottom floor of the ship.  Scenario B The son (now 65 years old) of a soldier who fought in WWII. He heard numerous stories of how his father was a pilot for the British army. One story stands out among all the others: While flying an attack mission, his plane was nearly shot down over Germany.

Discussion  To what extent were you able to fill in the gaps of this story?  What is left unknown?  What was the most effective question someone from your group asked?  What made it so effective?
