CMS Mission and Vision Mission: Central Middle School’s mission is to educate all learners in a safe and nurturing environment, meeting the academic, cultural, psychological, emotional and physical needs, regardless of level or style, in order to reach their full potential to society. Vision: At Central Middle School, we envision a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment in order to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and physically through a differentiated, cooperative community so that each student reaches his/her full potential. Goals: Goal 1: Central Middle School will use data-driven instruction to actively engage students in learning by assessing students, collecting and analyzing data using DEA probes, pre-assessments, AIMS Web, Jerry John’s, common assessments and benchmarks. Goal 2: The staff at Central Middle School will chart progress, collaborate on results and address weaknesses through ongoing professional development, which will allow us to meet the requirements of our AYP Goals. PBIS is a broad range of systemic and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes while preventing problem behavior OSEP Center on PBIS The focus is on preventing unwanted behaviors and rewarding positive behaviors.

General Overview: Why Have a System for Teaching Behaviors? Behaviors are prerequisites for academics Procedures and routines create structure Repetition is key to learning new skills: For a child to learn something new, it needs to be repeated on average of 8 times For a child to unlearn an old behavior and replace with a new behavior, the new behavior must be repeated on average 28 times. --Harry Wong 20 times to eliminate old behavior and 8 times to begin the new one. 8
