WIND. A wind turbine is a rotating machine which converts the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used directly.
Overview The purpose of our group’s project is to use the principles we’ve learned in EF 152 to design a windmill that will ultimately generate enough.

Tasks: Build Windmill Energy Learn about Electricity while working with a team Follow the guidelines and requirements

Started off with three different designs and came to an agreement Fans built out of cardboard, styrofoam center, geared with Legos to an axle directly through the generator with neodymium magnets Sits on a wooden base with a wooden stronghold out the center of the base to hold the generator and fan Materials: wood, cardboard, wire, magnets, nails, Legos, styrofoam, and bulb

Given fan gives kinetic energy Captured wind in the rotation speeds up to turn the axle Axle is directly through the generator Electricity builds up within the device

Average voltage – 1.4 Volts Efficiency - Actual ∕ Theoretical Calculations – Theoretical P = ½ ρ A V³, Actual P = V * I P = ½ * (1.225 kg/m³) * (π( m)²) * (1.7 m/s)³ P = 1.4 Volts * Current

Cost – $5.oo Total, $3.00 for magnets and 1.50 for Light bulb Team worked constructively together Took a few good meetings to solve and figure situations Learned about Mechanical and Electrical Aspects of a Windmill Give us an A!!!
