TMALL 0141 Presentation v 1.0 Asset Management Bo Olsson Bucharest October 7th, 2015

Intelligent Maintenance should lead to: A capacity increase, up to 10%, –a modern maintenance can contribute to maintain the target capacity of the network, and also increase it An increase in operational reliability and availability, up to 50%, –a fail-resistant rail system, by intelligent maintenance, can reduce interruptions and better estimate the needed maintenance time Reduced operating costs, up to 40%, –improved and more intelligent maintenance actions will reduce the maintenance costs and increase earnings

Inputs and Results… Asset management models/processes and the system/part-system maintenance strategies is a basis. Asset performance and deterioration are inputs to the complete maintenance system. Out of this; decision support (governance?) will come out. How much can we rely on management, planning, skilled staff, physical equipment? It builds on the asset state, age and probability of failure

Measuring and monitoring Integration of: –on-board and wayside measuring and monitoring sub-systems –approach: measure relevant data using the new techniques; monitoring the status of the critical assets –provide data in order to: generate relevant maintenance related information; generating data/information to support maintenance learn how to find facts in big volumes of data generate data for learning in the asset management processes

Automated concepts to support intelligent maintenance Data management, processing and analysis to support(?) intelligent maintenance, with present asset register Interfaces to different (types of) external knowledge systems AI analytics to enable prescriptive railway maintenance AI tools that detecting anomalies and predicting assets break-downs Precursor for the maintenance process. Risk based asset management to define scenarios.

Some useable knowledge areas … Work methods, logistics, tools and equipment Safety Planning systems, work management Monitoring by regular trains Sensors systems Knowledge from other sectors Pantograph and signalling monitoring IPRs IT security Self repairing components Novel thinking
