Introduction This is an adventure book that takes five children back through time to the Revolutionary War. The children learn first-hand what was happening as they meet George Washington and others who were involved in the war. The book has an unusual title. It’s called George Washington’s Socks, and it was written by Elvira Woodruff. We’ll find out what the title means when we get into it.

Look at the front cover. This picture is based on a famous painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River. You can see a few differences though, can’t you?
