Description Natural State: Greenish Yellow Gas Description and uses: Chlorine is used for purifying drinking water, killing bacteria in swimming pools, making paper, dyes, textiles, petroleum products, medicines, antiseptics, insecticides, food, solvents, paints, plastics, and many other products. In room temperature chlorine is a greenish yellow gas that is heavier than air and in colder temperatures it can turn into a liquid. In 1915 it was used as a war gas.

Characteristics Melting and Boiling Points: Chlorine’s melting point is when it reaches a temperature of negative one hundred and one degrees Celsius. It’s boiling point is when it reaches a temperature of negative 35 degrees Celsius. Group and Characteristics: Chlorine has a very strong odor, and it can irritate the eyes and the skin. If humans are exposed to a large amount of Chlorine it can cause serious problems and in extreme cases even death.

Where is Chlorine? Where can Chlorine be found: Chlorine can be found in most swimming pools and in water purifying places.

Did You Know Did you know chlorine is an oxidizer? An oxidizer is a chemical that needs fuel to burn.
