AP Statistics Wednesday, 09 September 2015 OBJECTIVE TSW review for Friday’s test over Chapter 1 – 3.

Test Topic: Chapters 1 – 3 Understand terms –Outlier –Variability –Sample vs. Population –Descriptive Statistics vs. Inferential Statistics Descriptive statistics describe a situation. Inferential statistics make predictions.

Test Topic: Chapters 1 – 3 Know the graphical ways to display data and the characteristics of each. –Dot plot –Bar chart –Stem-and-leaf plot –Pie graph –Histogram –Frequency distribution –Relative frequency distribution –Ogive (cumulative relative frequency distribution)

Test Topic: Chapters 1 – 3 Know how to use percentiles. –From a histogram. –From a collection of data. Know the types of data –Categorical (qualitative) vs. Numerical (quantitative) –Discrete (usually counts of something) vs. Continuous (measurements) –Univariate vs. Bivariate vs. Multivariate data sets Interpret a histogram and an ogive (cumulative relative frequency distribution).

Test Topic: Chapters 1 – 3 On the test, make sure you READ each question carefully and understand what is being asked. Wear a (preferably) PURPLE JVHS shirt. QUESTIONS?
