Special Permit All fishermen harvesting Snapper Unit 2 species will be required to obtain an authorization from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNER) to conduct such activities. This permit will improve the management of this particular fishery by limiting the activity to the traditional participants
Special Permit Requirements – Commercial License (full time/part-time) – History of landings for the regulated species (~ Five Years )
Special Permit Conditions – A maximum of 120 trips per year – Monthly reporting of landings.
Special Permit The Marine Fisheries Laboratory will produce a list of the fishermen who has reported multiannual landings for Snapper Unit 2 Species The Office of Permits, Forestry Licenses, Wildlife and Fisheries will contact the selected fishermen and will notify of the necessary requirements to obtain this permit
Special Permit DNER will provide this special permit within 30 days after receiving the required information There is no cost associated to this permit Landing reports will be collected and the information transferred expeditiously to NMFS
