A programme is a plan of activities to be done or things to be achieved. A programme usually includes: ◆ Date Dates in a progamme are usually presented in short form to save space. For example: 1st January → 3rd September → 1st Jan /1 Jan 3rd Sept/3 Sept

◆ Day Days refer to days in a week. They can also be presented in short form. For example: Sunday → Thursday → Sun Thur

◆ Time Time can be presented in several ways: 9 a.m./ p.m./ a.m./ p.m./18.45 ◆ Place There are many places for events or activities. For example: assembly hall meeting room 7th floor, Park Hotel

◆ Event/ activity Events or activities are the most important part of a programme. For example : speech on Chinese history art festival sports meeting

Skills building 3: writing a notice

1. What is a notice? A notice is a piece of paper which gives information before something is going to happen. It’s usually put in a public place.

2. What should we pay attention to when we are writing a notice? include the most important information, such as time, dates, events and person who is giving the notice only include the necessary information make your notice clear and attractive

Now please enjoy some notices, and discuss how to make a notice attractive.

Read the notice issued by the school librarian. Try to underline the important information. Event: Time: Reason: Library closed 15 to 17 September For the sports meeting

口头通知 口头通知即以口头的形式表达通知的内容, 其特点是:用词较口语化,句子不会太复 杂,通常只需用一段话讲清其内容即可。 另外,口头通知的开头和结尾通常都有一 定的固定套语,同学们也应特别注意

妥用口头通知呼语 口头通知的开头称呼语通常需根据听众的 具体情况来确定,有时还要考虑其场合是 否正式。 如: ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, teachers and students,

口头通知套语 (1) 在用口头下达通知时,常见的表达有: May I have your attention, please? Attention please, everyone. I have an announcement to make. Be quite. There is something important I have to tell you. I have something (important) to tell you. I’m glad to tell you something important.

结束套语 That’s all. Thank you very much. 通知时态 : 口头通知是要告诉大家即将进行的活动, 因此要以一般将来时为主。如: We will go to the Great Wall tomorrow. We’ll have a meeting about it after the sixth class. There will be an English film in our school tonight. The match will be put off to next week. We are going to hold a meeting to discuss the problem.
