I’m much taller this year. 我今年高了许多。 much taller 意思是 “ 高很多 ” 。一般情况下 形容词比较级前可用 much, a lot, a little 等词来修饰。而 very, quite, too 只能修 饰原级不修饰比较级。 如 : The sun is much bigger than the moon. 太阳比月亮大的多。 He is a little thinner than me. 他比我瘦点儿。

比较级前的程度状语还可用具体的数量词。 如 : four times“ 四倍 ”, three years 三年。 eg: Your school is three times bigger than ours. Mary is four years older than Li Ming.

I wrote a letter to Helen this week. write a letter to sb. 意为 “ 给某人写信 ” ， 也可说成 write to sb. 我会写信给他。 I will write a letter to him. = I will write to him.

eg: Our dreams will come true someday. I hope to see him one day. One day I met her in the supermarket. be famous for 以 …… 而闻名 / 著名 eg. Beijing is famous for the Great Wall. be famous as 作为 …… 而出名 / 著名 eg. Yao Ming is famous as a basketball player.

Maybe I will be a famous movie star someday. maybe“ 也许, 大概 ” 同义词 perhaps, probably 。 eg: Maybe he will buy that dictionary. someday 某一天 ( 指将来的一天 ), 也可写 成 some day 。 one day 一天, 可指将来的一天, 也可指过 去的一天。
