Reading to Babies and Children

When reading to babies – it is OK for babies to do these things… Stop reading if they are not interested Touch and turn the pages Focus on the pictures not the text Move around Make noises and sounds

Reading strategies for babies include… Making sounds Exaggerated facial expressions Pauses and voice expression

Asking familiar questions… Where is the boy? Where is the ball? Making your own story about a picture
