BOSTON TEA PARTY by Chris AND RYAN

ABOUT ON DECEMBER 16 1773 THE RESISTANCE MOVEMENT THROUGHOUT BRITISH AMERICA AGAINST THE TEA ACT,WHICH HAD BEEN PASSED BY THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT IN 1773. COLONISTS OBJECTED TO THE TEA ACT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THAT IT VIOLATED THEIR RIGHTS AS ENGLISHMEN TO “NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION” THAT IS, BE TAXED ONLY BY THEIR OWN ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES AND NOT BY A BRITISH PARLIAMENT IN WHICH THEY WERE NOT REPRESENTED. PROTESTERS HAD SUCCESSFULLY PREVENTED THE UNLOADING OF TAXED TEA IN THREE OTHER COLONIES BUT IN BOSTON, EMBATTLED ROYAL GOVERNOR THOMAS HUTCHINSON REFUSED TO ALLOW THE TEA TO BE RETURED TO BRITIAN.

WHO WHERE THE MAJOR PEOPLE ? JOHN ADAMS 2ND PRESIDENT OF AMERICA SAMUEL ADAMS LEADER OF SONS OF LIBERTY George Hewes protester Francis Akeley only person to get arrested for the boston tea party

What happened The Americans hated how the Brits were taxing the tea for too much money so they decided to throw all of the tea in the ocean so then the Brits would consider decreasing the tax on tea So then the Americans decided they did not want to be apart of Britain anymore and that was the end of the American Revolution

When was the Boston tea party? December 16 1773

Where did the Boston tea party mainly take place in.

WHY WAS TEA SO POPULAR IN THE AMERICAN REVOLION ? Tea was very classy, it was family togetherness Poor families drank tea to get them through the long work day and to show they, too, could appreciate the finer things. Middle-class families drank tea to show the rich that they were, sophisticated too. Wealthy families drank tea with expensive porcelain tea services from Europe or China itself (where the tea came from) and silver utensils to show that they were just as good as people in England, too. All this sophistication was important to Americans, who were always self-conscious about Looking good in front of their cousins back in England.
