Expectations for the Classroom Attend Class Regularly Listen Attentively in Class Ask Questions when you don’t Understand Read, Save & Consult the syllabus throughout the semester Obtain notes from your classmates if you missed a class Understand the class lecture may complement the readings, not reiterate them Take meaningful notes that will aid you in studying

Professor Pet Peeves

Top 5 Student Pet Peeves I.Professors don’t reprimand students who make it difficult for other students to learn. II.Professors are boring and do not show any energy, excitement or enthusiasm making learning difficult. III.Professors require too much homework that is busy work and never check it. IV.Professors play favorites. V.Instructors say on the first day it is almost impossible to get an “A” in my course.

Introduction to Learning Styles Needless to say there is a lot of expectations that professors have of students You have to figure out that learning works best for you – While there are strategies to increase your learning, everyone has to find a way to make learning work for you

Visual Learners You process information with their eyes. For visual learners “seeing is believing”.

Auditory Learners You rely on your ears most when processing information, so you might prefer to listen to a lecture rather than reading a textbook.

Kinesthetic Learners You associate movement with learning enhances your ability to learn. Experience is the best teacher, and hands on learning allows you to get physically involved with the material

Point to Remember Like most learners you probably use all 3 methods at some point. You simply need to find various methods that works for you.
