PAYware Transact Terminal Interface Manager

Overview Terminal Interface Manager (TIM) is a server designed and developed by VeriFone, Inc. to work between PAYware Transact or PAYware Connect and selected VeriFone Point of Sale devices such as the VX 810 and MX870. It is written in Java, so it can run on multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and OS/400® (or i5/OS®) for the IBM System i (iSeries or AS/400). TIM works in conjunction with PAYware Transact’s API so merchants with existing PAYware Transact interfaces will not have to change their API to take advantage of the Terminal Interface Manager. Highly configurable and easy to use, Terminal Interface provides a utility to configure all of the global and device settings for the supported terminals on a Local Area Network (LAN) and is capable of managing a large number of terminals per store. An optional BIN Management feature may be used to recognize debit cards in order to prompt for PIN entry. An Offline Manager allows certain transactions to be stored for later processing. Terminal Interface Manager (TIM) supports Credit Card, Debit Card, EBT, Check, and Gift Card transactions. The commands supported are processor dependent,

Installation of tim

Prerequisites Log on to the server as Administrator or equivalent. The user performing the installation must have permissions to create directory structures on the server. Install the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) SDK version 1.5 or later. The Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.5 or later is required to run TIM. The JVM is included in the J2SE SDK. To find out if you already have the correct JVM installed, go to a command prompt (click Start / Run and type cmd) and then type: java –version If the JVM is installed and the executable is in your path, the version of the JVM will be returned. If you do not have the JVM installed or have an older version, you should download and install the latest J2SE SDK.

Installation A GUI-based program called the Terminal Interface Setup is provided to install TIM. The Terminal Interface Setup is a Java-based program and requires that Java is installed and is in the server’s path. Starting the Terminal Interface Setup Wizard: 1. To start the TIM Installer, use Windows Explorer or My Computer to browse to the Terminal Interface Setup’s root directory. Double-click the file installer.bat. 2. Once the Terminal Interface Setup Wizard has been launched, it prompts to select the Type of Installation: New Installation or Upgrade Installation 3. Click to select the appropriate Type of Installation. 4. Click Next to continue.

Installation (cont) After selecting the Type of Installation, you will be prompted to Select an Operating System. Click to select Windows and click Next to continue.

Review the EULA, and then click on the “I Agree to the terms of the License Agreement” check box and click Next to continue the installation.

Installation Type If you have selected the installation type as “New Installation”, the Installation Location screen will appear. TIM's default installation directory is C:\VeriFone\vfitibase. We recommend that you install TIM in the default installation directory. However, if you want to install to a different directory, use the Browse… button. Click Next. The TIM Installer will now install TIM into the directory specified in the box labeled Destination Folder.

Java Install After a few moments, the Java Runtime Environment screen will appear with the default JRE path in the text field. In the event that you want to use a different JRE, use the Browse… button to locate it. Once you have selected the JRE, Click Next to continue.

Selecting Components After you select the Java Runtime Environment, you will be prompted to choose the TIM components that you would like to install. You can hover your mouse over a component to see its description. To install MX880 Device support, check the MX880 Device Support checkbox. To install MX870 Device support, check the MX870 Device Support checkbox. To install MX860 Device support, check the MX860 Device Support checkbox. To install MX850 Device support, check the MX850 Device Support checkbox. To install MX830 Device support, check the MX830 Device Support checkbox. To install SC 5000 Device support, check the SC 5000 Device Support checkbox.

Adding a database a) If you have checked the Offline Processor Support checkbox, you will need to create a new database to store all offline transaction information. When the following JDBC Driver selection screen appears, select your JDBC Driver (driver jar file) using the Browse button. Alternatively, you can manually enter the path of your JDBC Driver file name and click on the Find Drivers button.

Review installation The Confirm Installation screen allows you to review the details of your installation. To change any of the options, use the Back button. If you are ready to initiate the installation, click Install.
