“Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1 NKJV

I. How should we pray ?

“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” 1 Cor.14:15

I. How should we pray ? = According to the Bible = To be understood

2. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Model Prayer – Luke 11:2-4

3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Model Prayer – Luke 11:2-4

I. How should we pray ? Addressed unto God  “Our Father” Mt. 6:9 In the Name of Christ  Col. 3:17  1 Tim. 2:5 “one mediator”

II. How long should we pray ? "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Matt. 6:7 NKJV

III. Watch and Pray "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matt. 26:41 “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving” Col.4:2 Vigilant

IV. Put Action into our Prayers "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matt. 7:7

V. Where should we pray ? Matt. 6:5-6 Acts 1:13-14; 12:12 Luke 11:1 Rm.15:30 Acts 10:2

VI. Learning to Pray

“ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1

Prayer can change your life ! Sin will hinder your prayers 1 Pet. 3:7
